A repeatable result starts with a controlled workspace. Do not make the first job a full-power production run.
1. Prepare the workspace
Use a stable, non-flammable surface with suitable shielding or enclosure, effective ventilation, protective eyewear, and an appropriate fire extinguisher within reach.
2. Verify the material
Never process PVC, vinyl, PTFE, halogen-containing, or unknown materials. Check the supplier's material information and confirm that laser processing will not produce hazardous fumes.
3. Inspect the machine
Check cables, module seating, shielding, fixtures, ventilation, and the work area. Stop if anything appears loose, damaged, or abnormal.
4. Run a small test
Start with conservative settings on a small sample. Observe the entire job and keep the work area clear.
5. Record what worked
Save the material name, finish, power, speed, passes, focus, and ventilation notes. Repeatable records are more valuable than guessing.
